Entryways

5 step

moody minimalist
In the previous post (Part #2 of this Entryway Series), I designed a space for one of my girlfriends that really leaned into an ultra feminine, Girly Glam style. For Part #3, I thought it would be fun to follow it with a total 180 and serve up a look for my Moody Minimalists that leans slightly masculine.
If you are a fan of Nate Berkus' and Jeremiah Brent's sophistcated and timeless style, then you are likely in love with their marble checkerboard entryways. The black and white, no doubt, makes a statement, so pairing it with a bold, stunning wallpaper is a perfect balance. For a budget-friendly hack, there’s some fantastic peel and stick options to get this marble checkered floor look. If you’re a renter or even just want to test out the look before you remodel, peel and stick is absolutely worth a shot! I’ve linked one below.

step 1: define the space

Bold flooring creates a strong visual foundation that can support eye-catching wall designs. Personally, I am a big fan of vinyl wallpaper and wall murals, and I love the "Trees In The Fog" design for its deep, mysterious aesthetic that exudes a Christian Grey vibe. The company's website offers custom cutting based on your wall dimensions, which is truly amazing. If you want to add some drama to your space, this wallpaper is a must-have showstopper.

Now, let's discuss color. For minimalists who may be wary of bold hues (and there are many of you), fear not! Green is an ideal neutral color for you. Yes, I said neutral. Consider the abundance of green that we encounter in nature every day. Your windows function as framed art and likely offer a view that includes some green. As the color of nature, green is calming, soothing, and pairs well with nearly any other color. Stay tuned for my upcoming article on why I adore green and how you can incorporate it into your own space.

step 2: Choose your Seating

For seating, let's opt for an ultra-modern piece like this stylish asymmetrical bench made of wood and metal. It not only looks sleek and edgy, it also provides enough space underneath to store a pair of shoes. Most likely, our minimalists never have a whole pile of shoes to choose from scattered at the front door.

step 3: Find Hanging Space

To avoid damaging our beautiful wall mural, we should forego using hooks for hanging space and instead choose a traditional coat rack with a modern design. This stylish coat rack made of smooth wood sticks reminds me of a camping tent or teepee, which actually complements our forest-themed wall art.

step 4: Add Storage

step 5: accessorize

Finally, let's discuss storage, which is important even for minimalists. Despite having fewer items to store, it's still necessary to have a designated spot for your essentials. This wood charging tray serves as a convenient organizer and charging station for your phone, AirPods, and other devices, ensuring that everything is readily available for you to grab and go.

In a minimalist home, everything should serve a purpose. Accessories can be storage, and storage can make a great accessory! This charging tray serves both purposes seamlessly, making it the ideal addition to your space. For minimalist, the golden rule is Less is More!
Following these five easy steps, to elevate your home entryway with an ultra-modern, minimalist touch.
