As we learned during the pandemic, there are coffee hours and there are cocktail hours and there is no in between. Call me crazy, but I’ve taken this commandment into my work. When designing a home with children I strongly believe there should be multipurpose spaces that are for children by day, and for adults by night. In this airbnb, it was an entire room.

This open concept space between the bedrooms and dining rooom may have previously been a second living room or a formal dining room, but no longer do we need secondary dining spaces anymore. (also… it was carpeted). So we decided to transform this space into a gaming zone where the kids could play games or watch movies. The swivel chairs allows them to face any direction they please and the basket beneath the tv holds their wireless headphones for all of their Silent movie and gaming needs.

At night this becomes a relaxing lounge zone for the parents with their glasses of wine and community style seating.
